How to get started
Most platforms have an unpaid qualification test. It takes time before the first payout.
1. Start with a platform that has no requirements
None of these requires a degree:
- Welo Data — 10 USD/h according to a Swedish ad, entry level
- RWS TrainAI — 19 USD/h according to a Swedish ad, at least 18 years old
- Mindrift — no AI requirements for the base level
- Alignerr — the general role requires no experience
2. Count the unpaid tests
Unpaid tests.
DataAnnotation's Start Assessment takes about an hour, is unpaid and can
only be taken once — if you fail, you are out. micro1's Zara interview takes
20–40 minutes and is unpaid. Prolific's language proficiency test is unpaid.
3. Sort out tax from the start
If your total income exceeds SEK 25,041 (2026), you must file a tax return. Set aside part of every payout. Read about tax.
4. Apply to several at once
Supply varies strongly between projects. Having two or three active platforms gives a steadier income than one.
5. Keep the paperwork
Contracts, receipts and market values for at least seven years. Without them you cannot fill in the tax return if the platform has not reported the income.
What you need from the start
- A PayPal account with KYC completed — most platforms require it
- An ID card for identity verification
- A Swedish bank account if you want SEPA payouts
- An hour per test platform for qualification, unpaid
