Prolific does not publish participant pay, but publishes a floor and a recommendation: researchers MUST pay at least 6 GBP/8 USD per hour, and are recommended 9 GBP/12 USD per hour or more. Domain experts are recommended 30-100 USD per hour. Effective hourly pay is calculated on the median of actual completion time, not the researcher's estimate. The withdrawal limit of 6 GBP/6 USD is a withdrawal limit, not a wage, and the floor is a minimum amount, not a promised wage. AI taskers require a passed AI Task Assessment (two-part test); language specialists must pass a 30-45 minute language proficiency test with camera, microphone and headphones. Prolific invites you to the AI Task Assessment based on your profile - you cannot apply to it yourself.

- yes, but differently: the language proficiency test is explicitly unpaid - Prolific writes 'This isn't a paid study - it's an unpaid assessment' and 'Will I get paid for taking the assessment? No'. Takes 30-45 minutes, requires camera, microphone and headphones, can only be taken once. The AI Task Assessment is a similar two-part test, but Prolific does not state that it is unpaid - we do not claim it either.

- Yes. Prolific's own page about underpaid studies admits that researchers can pay too little and that Prolific calculates the effective hourly pay on the median of actual completion time. It is the most truthful pay picture on the whole site: the floor is published, but the payment of the individual study is up to the researcher. SWEDEN is spelled out among the 53 countries that may take part.

- Pending payments can be blocked for up to 22 days; the PayPal country must match the country of residence or birth. Duplicate accounts are banned, and that applies even if you 'only' apply for a Domain Expert role externally. Prolific replies to 0 % of the negative reviews on Trustpilot (15,341, some of which complain about missing withdrawals).

Referral program
- Referral program: 30 USD in Prolific credit to both you and the person you refer, once they have spent at least 125 USD. It is credit to spend on future studies, not cash. (the program's own terms)
The program is not always open: /referrals only shows a waitlist link, and the help centre says the program runs 'occasionally' and only shows in your account if it is active and you are eligible. Always include the 125 USD spend requirement.
